The Foundation for International Dignity (FIND), a pro-democracy and human rights organization operating in Liberia has ended a six month project aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, oversight and participation in post conflict Liberia. The project which was sponsored by the United Nation Development Programmed under its STAOP program was launched in July of 2017 through a bi-literal agreement between the two institutions.

Speaking to the press during the closure of final activities in November of 2017, FIND’s Executive Director, Mr. Roosevelt Woods thanked the UNDP family for supporting his organization in promoting transparency, accountability and participation of all Liberians in the governance process of the country. He said during the six month period his organization was able to reach 10 communities in Bong and Montserrado counties.

He further said that FIND was successful in identifying six smart kids between the ages of 8 to 15 years in the two counties who were coached, trained, tutored and mentored to conduct one-on-one campaign with their peers on issues bordering around accountability, integrity and transparency in targeted communities.

FIND also held 10 town hall meetings with influential religious and traditional leaders on the need to promote integrity and accountability in religious and traditional institutions. Each town hall meeting according to the FIND Executive brought together 100 religious and traditional leaders who devised means to strengthen the issues of accountability, transparency and integrity within their respective institutions promising to increase engagement with government to eradicate corruption and other malpractices.

Other activities under the project according to Mr. Woods included setting up of  10 Student Integrity Clubs (SIC) in 10 schools in the two counties as well as working with student leadership in four Universities and technical colleges in holding symposium aimed at  promoting high moral values and integrity in the public services and domain.

FIND also distributed leaflets, brochures and posters in targeted communities while at the same time hosting student integrity radio programs on two major radio stations the FIND Director explained.
